Sirens sound! Marc has a car!
We got a call and were told to look out the office window. Parked in the schools lot, was Marc new car. A Nubia 2 in all it's silvery grey glory. We took a quick ride and then the dealer whisked it away again (maybe to install the new leather seats?) It's a very nice vehicle, and it looks like the road trip to Pusan is again going to happen next week. Freedom!
As we were pulling back in from the drive, sirens around the city started to sound. No one here looked too concerned, even though this was the first time I remember hearing them since I got here. I assume they were just a test or something, which I am used to, since I lived near a nuclear material refining plant growing up and there were plenty of drills on a regular basis (every first Wednesday of the month as I recall).
Funny story about that nuclear refinery plant, funny in a sense that it will probably be responsible for my premature death and all. My last class in college, ever, was in "Water and Society". We covered water pollution and discussed other issues important to water quality. Trying to impart some knowledge that pollution happens anywhere, the professor put a transparency on the projector and said:
"Look, here is a local pollutor. The government has taken samples showing that this site has polluted the water sources here, and they are moving in this direction, signified by these giant blue arrows."
I raised my hand. " Hey Professor, see that second blue arrow on the right?"
"Yeah?" he responded.
"That's where my parent's house is."
"Oh. Really?" he said kind of surprised.
"Yeah. Think they would have told us about that pollution? I remember them checking the water from time to time when I was little. Hell, our county even sued and I got money twice because of it. Should I be concerned for my health?"
"Uh, I don't know....looks like we are out of time." (Professor runs out the door)
If I ever develop this condition, like, say, a third eye or something, I think I will know who to blame.
