French Guys with Swords, Korean Guys with Space Rifles.
Who would have thought going to seeing a horribly movie would turn into a good night for this geek?
Let me back up a little bit. I did get into the movie fine, and since I bought the ticket early, I was put in the back of the theater, and since I was a single ticket, I was given an assigned seat next to 8 or so Korean guys. They got a kick out of it because I got stuck between two groups of Koreans when the seats next to me filled. They were trying to get the guy next to me to ask me questions to practice English.
I had a small conversation with them before the previews and then sat back to watch the flim sputter and die in the land of bad screenwriting, bad cineomtography and so many cliches that had the intention of coming home and writing a post called "Excuse me while I roll my eyes."
Ugh. I do not recommend "The Musketeer." Every single good scene was in the trailer. So I do highly recommend the trailer, but don't bother to see any other part of the movie. They should of added a "Rocketeer" or maybe Britney Spears as a bouncy "Mouseketeer" and I would have kept from yawning at the boring crap that was not in the trailer.
After the movie I was intending on walking home, but I bumped into the guys from the movie again and struck up a conversation with them as we waited for the crosswalk. They asked what I do, where I live, etc. They were going to go home when someone asked if I play video games. Hmmmm. I told them yeah, and that I liked StarCraft (instantly got a smile from that one). I asked them if they wanted to go play, and they thought about it for a second and then agreed to go. I even knew where the nearest PC-bong was to go play a game.
We headed over and I played a warm up 1 on 1 match with probably the best guy in the remaining group of four guys that came to the PC room. He totally kicked my ass, but didn't diss my game, which was cool of him since I played like crap. I was out of practice with the Protoss, so for the second team game I switched to Zerg while my teammate (the guy that previously just whipped my ass) played Terran. It was a good game, mostly because my teammate was helping me out, but I was holding my own for a little while until my expansion got knocked out and I was forced to more or less be a straight support fighter for his troops. We won from simple attrition after that.
Since they are students, and they live at home, they called it quits after that game, and we exchanged phone numbers. We walked back to where we had met on the street and talked before I went back to the school and to write this post. They said I would get a call to hang out if they go to see an English movie or to go to the PC-bong. I told them that I was looking forward to it. Now I just need to play more StarCraft again to get back on top of my game. It's good to have problems like this. >=0)
