While spending some time at a local English bookshop, I got introduced to the owers which are very influential in this community. While having a "getting to know you" kind of talk, Marc eventually showed up. As a favor to another foreigner, we were going to help prototype a board game he developed (don't ask me, it looked confusing and I didn't play.)
While we were sitting around all talking, Carey and G, the old computer teacher happened to walk in. G was sporting a new haircut and a new look, which was cool because I haven't seen her in 2 months since she quit (she started the trend). Anyways, Marc being political, and as a favor for me to get better introduced to the owners of the Kidari English shop invited us out to eat at the local "T.G.I.F."-rip off place called "HereToday."
When I say rip off, I mean, we have the crazy crap on the walls, the 17 "pieces of flair" and everything. They even had an English menu (I honestly didn't need it, big pictures and even the Korean menu had English on it but I wasn't going to refuse since they went to the trouble of finding it for me). I even had my camera with me and snapped a picture of one of the more offensive items for the next picture set.
Anyway, after splitting with the bookstore owners which I think I made a good impression with, the rest of us made plans to see "Kiss of the Dragon" at Lotte Department store. While talking over beers until our showtime, we caught up on G since she quit, and talked a little about our respective families since Marc is leaving in a week to visit his for a month. That's kind of a major thing... expect some fallout from that for the rest of the week, and since he won't be returning to the school when he returns to Korea, it's going to be a major change for me. Politics and much controversy will be sure to follow. Oh yeah, and by default it looks like I am the head teacher now that everyone else is quitting. Wacky hyjinx will be sure to ensue. I have all week...and the rest of my stay here to talk about that, so I digress.
Next, the mini-review of the movie. This movie is easily a year old, so I will keep it brief:
Kiss of the Dragon UltraCondensed Review: (Just add water!)
Hooker-Fu. Chinese-Fu. French-Fu. Then some throw in some more random-fu for good measure, and a stereotypical evil french pimp drug dealer dies a gratuitously bloody death. (say THAT 5 times fast!) The End.
Cliched? You'd better believe it. Deep? Not much more thought to it than "Wow, that must of hurt". Bad? No. A Decidedly mediocre flick, but considering I hate action movies, that's not too bad considering my taste. Jet-Li gave a surprisingly good preformance, far better than I expected going in. He's not the graduate of the the Keanu school of wooden acting like I thought he was. If the plot had been better or a little more engaging, I would have liked to see what he could have done with it.
After I snapped another picture in the movie theater for an upcoming release poster, we went down to take the car home. But since we apparently parked in the "Itchy" lot, we had a hard time finding the car. We fanned out Seinfeld style and spent a good 10 minutes in the emission filled sub-basement to find the car. Thankfully no one had to go to the bathroom.
Can I work any more references into this post? (looks at watch) Nope. Goodnight.
