Sea-Do.

When ever a new student comes to the Hogwon, whatever teacher that has the student first in class usuall gives him or her their "English name" for use at this school. This is also the time when the current Hogown students who want to change their English name normally ask if they are allowed to. I had both instances going on in the same class today.

First, Jo asked if she could change her name to "Sally", which I said was fine, but ended up calling her Jo for the rest of the day out of habit. I know their names are arbitrary, but when you call someone something for about 5 months, it tends to stick. We also had a new student in the class who eventually settled on the name "Lily" for her name after many suggestions.

One of the boys in class class raised his hand and asked if he could also change his name, seeing that Jo/Sally was allowed. I always wait to hear what they want to change their name to before I give permission, so I asked what "Simon" wanted to change his name to. His answer was "Jet-Ski" which I had him confirm repeatedly since I was laughing hard at such a non sequitur response. I didn't let him change his name, but he's got a new nickname from me now. >=0)
