First day, all over again.

Well, I went and finally did it. Last night at 11 pm, I went to see Harry Potter and the Scorcer's Stone. I really enjoyed it. I've read all the books, and surprisingly enough I think it was a well done representation of the major events in the book. The movie got across most of the richness of the books, and coming in at a whopping two and half hours for a "children's" movie, did rather well at holding my attention all the way through. For sheer time reasons things were left out, like much of Norbert's substory, but I don't think it detracted from the story. Read the books, see the movie.

Since the movie lasted until 1:30 am, I paid for watching the movie with sleep deprivation this morning. I was exhausted, and of course this was the first day without Marc, so lots of changes had to be made. Samantha and I organized our teacher's room and were introduced to a new Korean hogwon teacher named Serena that will answer the kids questions and deal with grammar issues with upper level classes. We also have a new kindergarden only Korean teacher that should be starting tomorrow.

Grace returned with a vengence, and was reorganizing the HELL out of this school. The majority of her ideas are well intentioned and probably for the best, but I'm already seeing when she latches onto something she doesn't want to let go, even if it is flatly denied by the rest of the teaching staff. She is here in a different capacity since the last time, so hopefully the results will be better than her last tenure as a teacher.

I'm liking most of the changes so far, because they revolve around making the school better organzied and better prepared for class. There is also a lower entry of difficulty in the Hogwon for teachers because the classrooms are better organized by level, which makes it easier for people to know where to go when they need to start class. They even reorganized the office so we all have desks...all that is on mine is an empty set of bookends. I know Korean's large amounts of office busy-work, but that's not the game I play, sorry.

I also used Marc's Autobike for the first time getting around some of the neighborhoods around my school to do some of my outside responsiblities. I had a nice time riding around and arriving places early. "Nice" being a relative term there meaning "Not getting into a dangerous accident". I don't know how long it will be until it is impossible to ride due to the cold, but I wasn't freezing tonight.
