Dangerous Invitation.
Korean game shows like to inflict pain and humiliation on their contestants. Case in point: one show, with a name roughly translated as "Dangerous Invitation" pits 4 men in competition for the charming lady of the week. While these celebrities don't actually complete for a date, or anything tangible, they still suffer all the same.
The contestants are all dressed for a nice dinner, and sit facing the camera at four seats along a long table. The lady that indirectly controls the fate of these gentleman sits in a protective booth situated in the middle of the two pairs of men. A host asks a series of questions to the woman, and depending on her responses, the game goes from there.
The show is basically a form of water torture with a laugh track. The woman's actions and verbal responses to the hosts questions can trigger large, powerful water cannons placed in front of each of the contestants. The woman doesn't know what even triggers someone getting sprayed, but at the bottom of the screen each action and their corresponding victim is displayed for viewers at home.
The game is a little like "Taboo" except if you get someone to say the forbidden word, someone is blasted in the face with a firehose. The water is powerful enough to knock people out of chairs, and each man is blasted in the face upwards of 5-10 times per half hour show. Of course the instant replay lets you see how much water goes up their noses too.
Sometimes the contestants think they know the trigger for themselves, and cower in fear waiting for the impending punishment that never occurs. The best shows to watch is when the other male contestants figure out the trigger to one of their fellow contestants and mercilessly torture one of their male neighbors by getting them sprayed repeatedly by getting the female participant to answer one particular way.
After the torture session is over, the woman chooses one of the men, based on their humor. I'm not sure if there are dates, or prizes, but I think not. They simply go on this show to get some publicity for themselves, which just happens to involve getting you face getting sprayed with high pressure water. I really don't get it, but it's funny.
