Rough day
Korean life October 16th. 2009, 9:15pmLast night Glow was not cooperative with her sleeping schedule, which left me in a rough state. I had bags under my bloodshot eyes when I got out of bed early this morning to teach my new classes. It was rough adjusting to the new schedule, as morning classes aren’t really anyone’s “thing”, but sleepless and tired, stressed and busy classes? Extra rough. I did my best, and my lessons improved every time I taught them, but I’ve got a long way to go before I’m happy with my classes like I was teaching elementary school students.
I just want a weekend off to de-stress, but I’ve got a substantial work load already. I didn’t have the luxury of planning my semester like the rest of the teaching staff, so now I’ve got to work extra hard to get up to speed. I’ve already gotten some information about students, but I’ve got to give them a big project next week, then act as a guide to my parents starting in the middle of week while they are here. The new job is tough enough, but planning my relatives visit is really starting to press me too.
Glow picked a really bad time to start needing all this attention while never going to bed. I can handle the parenting in small bursts from time to time, but the relentless sleeplessness really wears me out quickly. This gets no sympathy from my wife, who’s been sleepless for months now, and has been keeping her daughter occupied for much longer than I have. I owe my wife a lot of free time that I’ve been enjoying, but I’m so tired I can’t enjoy time with my daughter yet.
Need sleep.
