I found a similar solution, commenting a configuration file and added a USB filter. The virtualization software sees the COWON D2, but it can't access it. It gives me a rather descriptive error that still hasn't helped me figure it out yet.

I'll keep your solution in mind and try to look for a work around.

I currently run a virtual windows guest OS on my linux box (I only need it for my sony minidisc. Annoying).

I have managed to get full USB support. You will need to blacklist the USB module from loading when you boot in order for the guest OS to have USB support. That's how I've done it using VMWARE.

I'm using arch and all configuration is done via /etc/rc.conf which is Arch Linux specific. When I was using Suse the file was /etc/hotplug/blacklist

Have a look in that file (if it exists), and put a "#" in front of anything USB related (no quotes). That will stop the module being loaded at boot. However, it will also mean you will have to uncomment it and reboot for usb support when using linux.

As I say, the above works for VMware. Im not sure about the software you are using.

Keep me posted.

Oh, Ubuntu's connectivity is top notch. It's the virtual Windows XP that can't find anything I attach to use.

UR much much brave. I tried a few live cd's from verious sources including xbuntu, kbuntu. none really suit me yet.
Latest version of ubuntu refuses to boot my laptop. Something about bios been too old. Older version worked ok but movie playback was hit and miss.
Have yet to try the usb connectivity on ubuntu. Hopefully its ok. May actually move to it and upgrage it to later version.

Wish you the best.
