Engrish T-Shirt Explosion Extravaganza Mark 2.
engrish May 6th. 2007, 10:13pmI ended up downtown again with my wife, and I had to reject several shirts for insane Engrish today. These happen to be the best of the worst.
The front of this shirt had something about “Grape Flavor Candy: Delicious Taste!” which makes the whole “Spreads Out in the Mouth” a little more sane.
I think there was a series of prints with the word “Candy Stripper” on them. It must have been from some sort of brand name I’ve never heard of before. I thought this shirt had said, “candy striper”, as in “Hospital Volunteer Deep Under Ground” until I looked at this picture more carefully.
So close! “It flies about”? What are they talking about? This is rather mild compared to the other two shirts. No implied sex or anything!
There were several other shirts that were picture worthy, but I was annoying my wife and holding up the process of getting a cheap shirt too much. We got something with a picture on it instead of strange text

I saw my first T-shirt in 9 months with Hanguel on it yesterday.
Do you ever see Hanguel T-shirts?

I was given the task of finding a shirt with Korean on it for a friend back in the States. It took weeks to find one! Eventually we were in Seoul and found some old knockoff World Cup shirts. It’s not common at all.

There was a letter in the Joong Ang daily on Tuesday by a Korean about the lack of “symbols” in Korea. I was very tempted to write in reply and say there are plenty of Korean symbols eg Hanguel, temples, the flag etc, the koreans just don’t seem to keen on using them and would prefer to use English. which got me thinking of a T-Shirt.
How about a T-shirt with the Korean flag on it and the Hanguel for the words Tell / Replied. I’d love to make some up and see what the Koreans thought of them, and how many would get the reference to Ask /Enquired.
