About not swimming in Lakes:
There are very few natural lakes to swim in and the reservoirs are officially not-for-swimming. but Some Koreans have also told me about fresh-water parasites that cause swimmers-itch. This was particularly interesting to me as some kind of microscopic worm has infested some of my hometown's swimming holes and a brisk towelling to basically scrape them off is recommended.

Really though, if you had left out any qualifiers ("do you swim?"), the answers would not have been much different.

Sorry about weird punctuation; I enlarged the comment window and it enlarged beyond the blog frame. I can't see everything.

[...] Since grandmother is in the hospital, there was a bit of a question as to the need of going to her house just for the ceremony. If we go, we’re there for a day or more. No one can escape the family’s obligations any sooner than anyone else because the work load doesn’t get distributed fairly along genders, or ages. My mother in law is going to be working, my wife will be either cooking or watching Glow, so we won’t be leaving any time before the last dish is washed. I’ll also have to watch my greedy aunt raid the backyard storehouse for all the food she can carry home. [...]

I researched some gloves that had a minute amount of metal sewn into the fingers - just enough to make the touch, but not enough to hurt the screen. Haven't seen any here, although Lifehacker(?) had some directions on how to make some.

Or, slap on a protective screen cover and buy a sausage :)

I find this song ("Just One Person") to be very easy and probably the most inspirational and emotional one I've ever come across: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwPQyxz5Rfw&feature=related

Here is another great one ("It's Not Easy Being Green") from Jim Henson's memorial that resonates a lot with those kids (and myself) who are slightly different and just trying to find our place in the world: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrZyMptC2eQ&feature=related

I just wish I could find subtitles for The Muppet Movie in Korean. I should have posted this earlier, but I got a bit sidetracked with all the drama that's been going on at my hagwon over the last few weeks.
